SW Wings Festival Tour to San Pedro House

Guiding for the Southwest Wings birding festival today was a real pleasure, with a great group and a total of 56 species, making for some excellent riparian and lowland mesquite grassland birding.

We encountered a female-type PAINTED BUNTING with a few LAZULI BUNTINGS at San Pedro House east of Sierra Vista, along the wash between Kingfisher Pond and Black Phoebe Pond.

We weren’t able to get access right down to the river because of thick mud, but we managed to find a good assortment of other species in the grassland, including singing CASSIN’S SPARROWS. There were several INCA DOVES around the house, and many COMMON GROUND-DOVES all over the place.
