Huachuca Canyon, Las Cienegas

The first of four days with a lovely group from Wisconsin. We birded Huachuca Canyon and Las Cienegas, with a total of 50 species.

Huachuca Canyon:
Fairly quiet, as to be expected at this time of year, but we did find plenty of decent birds, including RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, ARIZONA WOODPECKER, WESTERN BLUEBIRD, HERMIT THRUSH, PAINTED REDSTART, and HEPATIC TANAGER.

Red-naped Sapsucker

Las Cienegas:
The usual grassland species, including a pair of BURROWING OWLS at the northernmost prairie-dog reintroduction site, a WHITE-TAILED KITE in the same area, and MERLIN and HORNED LARK.
